Mr. Thompson served as Assistant Project Manager for the $2M project to catalog and rate all streets within the City of Houston’s jurisdiction, totaling over 6,000 centerline miles. Mr. Thompson updated the earlier DOS based PMMP software to function in an Oracle database environment. In addition, the project developed mobile data collection software which was deployable to PDA hardware for use in performing pavement condition surveys.
The project also linked the historical condition survey information with City of Houston GIS resources and integrated the GIS display capabilities into the PMMP desktop application. The PMMP program was updated to include a budgeting and planning module which utilized historical deterioration rates and current condition scores to prioritize and budget maintenance activities based on expected budgets. Mr. Thompson also worked with City of Houston staff to develop the GASB 34 asset inventory value of the City of Houston street network.
